What changes from 3MF to GLB

A 3MF source can contain triangle geometry, materials and colors, textures, print-production metadata.

For browser safety, this version accepts mesh objects and separate build items but rejects 3MF component graphs; flatten them in the source application first.

GLB is a compact web/runtime container. It can carry materials and hierarchy, but this conversion exports a normalized static scene.

Scale path: The unit declared by 3MF is converted to millimeters before preview and export. GLB output converts the millimeter working scene back to meters.

Guaranteed in this conversion: triangle geometry.

When present, the exporter may retain materials and colors, textures; verify them in the downloaded file.

This static conversion does not transfer print-production metadata.

Limits and checks you still need

  • The first release exports the visible static mesh; rigs, animation clips, cameras and lights are not guaranteed across formats.
  • OBJ is handled as one geometry file, without separate MTL files or external textures.
  • Large or unusually complex files can exceed browser memory even below the file-size limit.

Can I convert 3MF to GLB for free?

Yes. The converter runs without an upload API or account and downloads the result from this tab.

Does the model leave my device?

No model bytes are sent to AIPRINTGEN. Libraries load only when needed, then conversion uses the local File object.

Will textures and animation survive?

Not in every direction. The warning beside the result reflects the selected target; inspect the downloaded file in its destination app.

Why should I check the scale?

STL and OBJ do not declare a universal unit, while GLB, FBX and 3MF have different unit conventions.
